Struck by the dual symbolism of life and death in the scene before me at Goldstream Park on Vancouver Island, I quickly retrieved my camera and clicked to help me remember
– the strong trees standing on the water’s edge
… as fresh running water brings life
– the leaves falling to their demise from those same trees
… as salmon swim upstream in those waters to their End
because I didn’t want to forget that …
When we are born, we change our address.
We move from … Beyond (in the care of our mother’s womb)
to … This World.
And, when we die, once again, we simply change our address.
We move from … This World
to … Beyond (in the care of the Creator / God / Love / Whatever Lies Ahead.)
And so, each night, I remember all who are about to move From Beyond and to come to This World, and all who are about to move from This World to Beyond.
May their journeys be peace-filled and blessed.
